Minister Josephine Teo’s Visit to Geneva, Switzerland for the Launch and Inaugural Meeting of the AI for Good Global Commission and Related Meetings (7 Jul – 9 Jul 2026)
7 July 2026
Minister for Digital Development and Information Mrs Josephine Teo will visit Geneva, Switzerland from 7 to 9 July to participate in a series of international meetings on Artificial Intelligence (AI). She will attend the launch and inaugural meeting of the AI for Good Global Commission as a Founding Member of the Commission, the inaugural Global Dialogue on AI Governance, and the AI for Good Global Summit.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) invited Minister Teo to be a Founding Member of the AI for Good Global Commission. The Commission is co-chaired by President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Salesforce Chair and CEO Marc Benioff, with ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin as Vice-Chair. It brings together Heads of State and Government, industry CEOs and top executives, and Heads of UN agencies to identify practical pathways to strengthen trust, expand access, and unlock AI's potential to address real-world challenges. Other Commissioners include Estonian President Alar Karis, Icelandic President Halla Tómasdóttir, Bharti Enterprises Founder and Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Microsoft President Brad Smith, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and Grab Co-founder and Group CEO Anthony Tan, among others. For more information on the AI for Good Global Commission, please find the official ITU press release here.
At the meetings, Minister Teo will speak to Singapore’s key priorities: moving beyond pilot experimentation to sectoral AI transformation; making AI governance portable and interoperable across borders; and mobilising implementation partnerships that connect governments, industry, and international organisations across the AI value chain. She will draw on Singapore’s own experience, including our National AI Missions, the Enterprise Compute Initiative, AI Verify, and the AI Assurance Sandbox, to demonstrate that responsible AI deployment is achievable, and to explore how these efforts can be scaled for public good.
During the visit, Minister Teo will also participate in the inaugural Global Dialogue on AI Governance, one of the key outcomes of the Global Digital Compact, which enables all Member States and stakeholders to exchange perspectives and strengthen international cooperation on AI governance. She will attend the AI for Good Global Summit, the ITU's annual flagship AI event, which brings together governments, industry, researchers, and innovators to explore how AI can address global challenges and advance sustainable development. The visit underscores Singapore’s commitment to translating AI governance into practical, cross-border impact.
