Launch of Institute of Digital Government
2 March 2026
At the Committee of Supply (COS) Debates 2026, MDDI announced the establishment of the Institute of Digital Government (IDG), a training academy to systematically equip more than 150,000 public officers with Digital, Data and AI skills. Working together with Civil Service College (CSC), the IDG aims to cultivate the right mindset and skillsets in every officer to design citizen-centric digital solutions and safely implement new technologies while protecting personal data and maintaining cybersecurity.
The IDG represents a strategic partnership that combines MDDI's expertise in digital strategy, policy, and standards with CSC's capabilities in learning design, programme delivery, and scalable training infrastructure. The Institute will design and deliver curricula that are aligned with the digital priorities of the Government. These include clearly defined core competencies and curriculum pathways to digital mastery.
All public officers will be required to complete mandatory foundational modules covering cybersecurity, data protection, and AI literacy. These modules ensure that every officer has the essential knowledge needed to operate effectively in the digital government environment.
The Institute will provide targeted courses in areas like product thinking, data governance, and artificial intelligence applications open to all public officers. These programmes are designed to build deeper expertise in critical areas that support digital transformation initiatives across agencies.
Beyond digital skills, the Institute will also integrate leadership training components, recognising that effective digital government requires leaders who understand both the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation. This ensures that senior officers can guide their teams and agencies through the evolving digital landscape.
The IDG is scheduled to launch in Q3 2026. More details will be announced in due course.
