MDDI's Response to PQ on Reasons for Reports Deemed Ineligible for Action by Online Safety Commission
7 October 2026
Parliament Sitting on 7 October 2026
Question for Written Answer
26. Ms Gho Sze Kee asked the Minister for Digital Development and Information in respect of the more than 500 reports received by the Online Safety Commission since its commencement on 29 June 2026 (a) how many were assessed to be ineligible for action; and (b) what were the reasons for such assessments.
Answer
From its commencement on 29 June 2026 until 31 August 2026 (both dates inclusive), the Online Safety Commission (OSC) received more than 500 reports alleging online harms. Around 200 of these were assessed to be ineligible reports. Ineligible reports include duplicate reports made by the same victim and reports made by someone other than the victim, who is neither authorised by the victim nor is a parent or guardian of a child victim. They also include reports that fall outside the five online harms currently prioritised by OSC. In such cases, the victims were referred to community partners for assistance.
