MDDI's Response to PQ on Employment and Salary Outcomes for Staff Retrenched from GovTech
3 November 2026
Parliament Sitting on 3 November 2026
Question for Oral Answer
*83. Mr Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari asked the Minister for Digital Development and Information (a) in respect of the 93 officers retrenched in the Government Technology Agency’s transformation exercise, how many have since found employment; and (b) whether the Ministry has information about their pay in comparison to when they were in service.
Answer
GovTech works closely with our partners from the Amalgamated Union for Statutory Board Employees (AUSBE), Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) and Public Service Division (PSD) to provide support to the affected officers. Our partners are committed and are following up with each officer going through job search, applications and interviews.
Out of the 93 officers in the first phase of GovTech’s transformation exercise, 36 officers left GovTech in August 2026, and 57 officers continue to work on their respective projects in GovTech until their last day of service. As of 30 October 2026, out of the 36 officers who have left, 11 officers have secured employment in the public or private sector, and 14 officers have tapped on the support provided by our partners and are in the process of career coaching and applying/interviewing. 11 officers have not tapped on the support provided by our partners as they are pursuing personal plans, taking career breaks, or exploring alternative career pathways.
As officers’ remuneration packages in their new employment are confidential arrangements between them and their respective employers, the Ministry/GovTech does not have this information.
