MDDI's Response to PQ on Establishing Singapore as Global Leader in Agentic AI Security and Assurance
4 November 2026
Parliament Sitting on 4 November 2026
Question for Oral Answer
*21. Mr Sharael Taha asked the Minister for Digital Development and Information following the Cyber Security Agency’s release of the Securing Agentic AI Addendum (a) how does Singapore intend to establish itself as a global leader in agentic AI security and assurance; and (b) whether Singapore can spearhead internationally recognised testing and certification standards to attract investments and develop a globally competitive AI assurance industry.
Answer
As AI systems become more capable and widely deployed, business demand for AI testing and assurance services will grow, including for agentic AI.
It will be increasingly important to have credible service providers for AI assurance in Singapore to meet our needs. This may indeed catalyse industry development and grow an AI assurance hub here that serves regional and global needs. But the shape and structure of the industry remain unknown. Much will depend on risks that are prioritised for assessment, and how these translate into actionable safeguards and testing methodologies.
At this stage, we focus on working closely with industries adopting AI and building capabilities in our ecosystem to develop and validate testing methods. The AI Verify Foundation's AI Tester Accreditation Programme helps businesses identify competent testing providers, laying the foundation for a competitive industry offering specialised assurance services.
We also contribute to international standards development, including through Singapore’s proposal for ISO/IEC 42119-8 on testing methodologies for Generative AI systems. This helps to build recognition of Singapore-developed testing and assurance methods.
