15 October 2025
Parliament Sitting on 15 October 2025
Question for oral answer
*63. Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for Digital Development and Information (a) whether there are plans to expand the size of the Sengkang Public Library in light of the planned integrated community hub; and (b) whether there are plans for another interim expansion following the one in 2017, given the ongoing demand for library services from the town’s demographic profile.
Answer
Under the Libraries of the Future Masterplan (LOTF), Sengkang Library, which is located in the Compass One shopping mall, has already undergone a revamp in 2017. The library was expanded to be 18 per cent larger across two floors. As part of the Masterplan, NLB ensures that branch libraries like Sengkang Library are supported by larger regional libraries which serve a wider region and offer more services and collections.
In addition to Sengkang Library, Sengkang residents can visit Punggol Library located at the One Punggol integrated hub. It is one of NLB’s four regional libraries, serving Singapore’s North-East Region including the planning areas of Sengkang and Punggol.
NLB will continue to review and ensure that Sengkang Library’s collections and services meet the needs of the community.
