QUESTION FOR WRITTEN ANSWER

42. Mr Gerald Giam Yean Song asked the Minister for Digital Development and Information (a) whether the Ministry will consider implementing a separate unique identifier for Singapore residents for use in digital and administrative systems, distinct from the NRIC number; (b) if so, whether such an identifier can be designed to allow updates or changes following data breaches or leaks; and (c) whether any feasibility studies have been conducted on such implementation.

This Parliamentary Question will be addressed through a statement by the Minister for Digital Development and Information during the Parliament Sitting on 8 January 2025.
